Mikey Musumeci, a renowned grappler, has made a name for himself as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. Over the years, he has collaborated with various UFC fighters, including former flyweight champion Brandon Moreno. Recently, Mikey’s expertise was acknowledged by upcoming UFC lightweight contender Chase Hooper, who credited him for the training they did together before UFC 310 on Dec. 7.

Hooper, known for his exceptional Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills in the 155-pound division, faced Clay Guida on the early preliminary card and emerged victorious with an armbar submission. He attributed his success to the training he received from Musumeci, revealing that Mikey had taught him a unique armbar setup off the kimura grip.

During an appearance on the JAXXON PODCAST hosted by former UFC champion Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, Chase Hooper expressed his gratitude towards Mikey Musumeci for his valuable insights and training.

On the other hand, Mikey Musumeci has recently signed with the UFC Fight Pass team, marking a significant milestone in his career. With a desire to revolutionize the sport, the New Jersey native aims to bring about positive changes with the UFC’s support.

Having previously competed in ONE Championship from 2022 to 2024, Musumeci has returned to the US and signed an exclusive contract with the UFC. In a recent interview with MMA personality Nina-Marie Daniele, he was asked to name the best grappler in the UFC, to which he chose his longtime coach and former welterweight title challenger, Gilbert Burns.

Musumeci praised Burns for his exceptional jiu-jitsu skills, describing him as having amazing submissions and overall grappling prowess. He credited Burns as his coach and mentor, which influenced his choice for the top grappler in the UFC.
