The Justice Department Files Misconduct Complaint Against District Judge James Boasberg
The Justice Department filed a misconduct complaint against District Judge James Boasberg on Monday, seeking his reassignment from a migrant deportation case due to alleged “improper” remarks about President Trump.
Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the filing of the complaint on X, stating that Judge Boasberg made inappropriate public comments about the President and his Administration.
The complaint alleges that Judge Boasberg attempted to influence Chief Justice Roberts and other federal judges by expressing concerns about the Trump Administration’s compliance with court orders, leading to a potential constitutional crisis.
Chief of staff Chad Mizelle wrote the complaint, citing Boasberg’s actions as a violation of judicial conduct standards and eroding public confidence in the judiciary.
Boasberg’s remarks were made just days before he presided over a case involving Trump’s deportation of suspected migrant gang members, which led to a clash over compliance with court orders.

Bondi emphasized that Boasberg’s actions undermine the integrity of the judiciary and should not be tolerated. Trump has also criticized Boasberg, calling for his impeachment in a social media post.
The DC district court has not responded to requests for comment on the matter.
