YouTube recently held its annual Made on YouTube event, where it announced a plethora of new updates, features, and tools catered towards creators. From updates to YouTube Live to new monetization options, the event was filled with exciting announcements.

One of the key highlights was the unveiling of a new Studio, offering creators a range of updated tools to manage their channels and track analytics. Some of the new features include an inspiration tab, title A/B testing, auto dubbing, and more. Of particular interest is the “likeness” detection feature, now in open beta, which allows users to detect and manage unauthorized videos using their facial likeness.

Additionally, an AI-powered Ask Studio feature was introduced to guide users and answer questions about their accounts. Creators can also collaborate with up to five other people on a single video, reaching a wider audience. These updates aim to enhance the overall creator experience on the platform.

YouTube Live also received some updates, such as the ability for creators to play minigames during livestreams, broadcast in both horizontal and vertical formats, and use AI-powered highlights to create shareable Shorts. A new ad format called “side-by-side” was introduced, running adjacent to the main content without interrupting the stream.

Furthermore, YouTube is integrating Google’s text-to-video generative AI model, Veo 3 Fast, into Shorts. This custom version allows creators to apply motion from a video to an image, add different styles, and insert objects into videos using a simple text prompt. Additionally, a new remixing tool and an “Edit with AI” feature have been added to enhance video creation.

In the realm of YouTube Music, updates were made to deepen engagement between creators and fans. These updates include a countdown timer for new releases, the ability to offer fans “thank you” videos, and a pilot program for U.S. listeners to access exclusive merchandise drops from artists.

AI tools for podcasters were also announced, allowing video podcast creators in the U.S. to create clips more easily with AI suggestions. A new feature set to roll out next year will enable the conversion of audio podcasts into video podcasts, expanding the reach of podcast content.

Moreover, YouTube introduced new monetization features, including brand deals and the YouTube Shopping program, which enables creators to earn money by featuring and tagging products in their content. Creators can now swap out brand sponsorships in long-form videos, utilize auto timestamps and tagging for products, and take advantage of a brand link feature for Shorts.

Overall, the Made on YouTube event showcased a range of exciting updates and features designed to empower creators and enhance the user experience on the platform. With a focus on innovation and collaboration, YouTube continues to be a leading platform for content creators worldwide.
