United Nations:

China criticized US trade practices as “bullying” and “blackmail” during a passionate speech at the United Nations. These accusations were promptly dismissed by Washington, which retaliated with its own critique of Beijing’s policies.

In an informal Security Council meeting on the use of intimidation in international relations, Beijing’s UN ambassador Fu Cong accused the US of disrupting the global economic order by imposing tariffs on its trading partners. He condemned the US for challenging the international order and threatening world peace and stability.

Fu directly targeted the US government led by Donald Trump, accusing it of playing a zero-sum game under the guise of “reciprocity” and “fairness” to further its own interests.

He warned against the spread of unilateralism and criticized high tariffs as a regression in history. Fu emphasized that engaging with China through pressure, threats, or blackmail is not the right approach.

In response, Washington labeled Fu’s remarks as a mere performance lacking credibility. The US representative highlighted China’s unfair trade practices that have negatively impacted economies and workers worldwide.
