The US Marshals Service Joins Hunt for Timothy Busfield in Child Sex Abuse Case
The US Marshals Service has joined forces with the Albuquerque Police Department to locate Timothy Busfield after a warrant was issued for the actor’s arrest in New Mexico in connection with child sex abuse charges.
According to the Albuquerque Police Department, authorities are actively working to track down the whereabouts of the “West Wing” actor and take him into custody regarding the disturbing allegations.
Department spokesperson Gilbert Gallegos confirmed the collaboration with the US Marshals Service, stating, “Albuquerque Police Department is working with the US Marshal Service to get Mr. Busfield into custody.”
Gallegos also mentioned that there is currently no specific timeline for when authorities expect to apprehend Busfield.
Busfield, 68, is facing two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse in connection with the case.
The allegations against Busfield involve unlawful sexual conduct with a pair of 11-year-old twins while he was directing the Fox show “The Cleaning Lady” in 2024, as per the arrest warrant issued on Friday.
One of the alleged victims reported that the incidents began when he and his brother were 7 years old, according to the affidavit.
The investigation into Busfield’s alleged crimes was initiated in November 2024 when a doctor at the University of New Mexico Hospital raised concerns about suspected sexual abuse and grooming involving the minors.
Although the APD initially decided not to press charges against Busfield, the case was reopened in September 2025 after one of the children disclosed to his counselor and pediatrician that Busfield had touched him inappropriately.
During a phone conversation with investigators in November, Busfield mentioned that it was possible he had physical contact with the twins during the filming of “The Cleaning Lady,” but claimed not to remember the specific incidents described.
Busfield’s wife, Melissa Gilbert, who is known for her role in “Little House on the Prairie,” made a social media post in November condemning child sex abuse following comments made by Megyn Kelly about convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Busfield has over 700 combined credits as an actor, producer, and director in TV and film, with a notable role in several seasons of “The West Wing.”
The allegations against Busfield are still under investigation, and authorities are actively pursuing his arrest to address the charges brought against him.
