The State Department Revokes Visa of Foreign Student Linked to Hamas-Supporting Disruptions

The State Department has taken action against a foreign student whose visa was revoked due to their involvement in “Hamas-supporting disruptions” on college campuses. This decision comes in light of President Trump’s promise to crackdown on individuals participating in anti-Israel protests.

A spokesperson for the State Department stated, “We revoked the first visa of an alien who was previously cited for criminal behavior in connection with Hamas-supporting disruptions. This individual, a university student, will be removed from the country by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”

The identity and nationality of the student have not been disclosed due to legal constraints. The college attended by the student and the nature of the protest they were involved in remain unknown.

President Trump’s recent warning to cut federal funds for institutions allowing “illegal protests” and to identify and potentially detain protestors has prompted this action. Pro-Hamas demonstrations disrupting college campuses have been a significant concern.

In response to alleged inaction against anti-Israel protests, the administration plans to withdraw over $50 million in government contracts from Columbia University.

Additionally, the State Department is reportedly implementing artificial intelligence to identify Hamas-sympathizing individuals in the US, aiming to revoke their visas through a program called “Catch and Revoke.” This initiative follows the recent terror attack on October 7, 2023.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized the zero tolerance policy towards those supporting terrorist organizations like Hamas. Any violation of US law, including by international students, could result in visa denial, revocation, and deportation.
