The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) revealed that the 14-year-old student responsible for the tragic shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia had been questioned by police in 2023 regarding online threats.

Colt Gray came under scrutiny in May 2023 when authorities suspected him of posting threatening messages online, hinting at a potential school shooting. The FBI’s National Threat Operations Center received tips about the alarming posts and promptly alerted local law enforcement.

Following investigations, the police interviewed Gray and his father, who disclosed the presence of hunting guns in their home but clarified that the teenager did not have unsupervised access to them. Despite the alarming nature of the threats, no legal action was taken at that time due to insufficient evidence.

The devastating incident unfolded on Wednesday when Gray unleashed gunfire at the school premises, claiming the lives of two teachers and two students. Eight others sustained injuries in the attack, with Gray being apprehended and set to face trial as an adult.

Survivors recounted the harrowing moments as Gray carried out the assault, highlighting the urgency of addressing gun violence in educational settings. The tragic event marks the 23rd school shooting in the US in 2024, underscoring the pressing need for enhanced safety measures and preventative strategies.
