USWNT’s Trinity Rodman reveals chronic nature of her injuries: ‘I don’t think my back will ever be 100%’

U.S. women’s national team star Trinity Rodman recently opened up about her ongoing battle with back issues, revealing that she believes the problem will persist for the rest of her career. The talented forward, who plays for the Washington Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), has been dealing with back injuries since her rookie season in 2021.

Despite her struggles, Rodman made her first start of the 2025 season in the Spirit’s 2-0 victory over Bay FC. However, her back problems resurfaced last September, forcing her to miss nearly a month of action. Despite this setback, she returned in time for the Spirit’s playoff campaign, which ended in defeat to the Orlando Pride in the NWSL Championship.

Speaking to reporters, Rodman acknowledged the chronic nature of her injury, stating, “Honestly, I don’t think my back will ever be 100 percent. It’s not one specific thing, it’s just the way that my back is structured. And it’s more so management than like a curable fix.” She expressed gratitude for the progress made in managing the injury but admitted that she may never fully recover to her rookie-year form.

The persistent back issue has caused Rodman to miss significant playing time at various points in her career, often at critical junctures. Last season, the injury occurred after her stellar performance at the Olympics and during an NWSL season where she was nominated for the MVP award.

Looking ahead, Rodman is now focused on returning to the USWNT for upcoming matches against Brazil in April. Head coach Emma Hayes has been supportive of Rodman’s recovery process, consulting specialists to assist the player in managing her back injuries.

Hayes emphasized the importance of caution in reintegrating Rodman into the national team setup, considering the long season ahead. She aims to strike a balance between allowing Rodman to ease back into action and preventing any further setbacks.

While Rodman may not play a significant role in the upcoming friendlies against Brazil, Hayes is optimistic about her progress. The head coach values Rodman’s contributions to the team and is committed to supporting her as she navigates her ongoing battle with back issues.

As Rodman continues to navigate her injury challenges, both at the club and international level, her resilience and determination serve as an inspiration to fans and teammates alike. With the support of her coaches and medical team, she remains focused on overcoming obstacles and making a lasting impact on the pitch. The world of technology is constantly evolving, with new innovations and advancements being made every day. One of the most exciting developments in recent years is the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). AI refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think and learn like humans.

AI has the potential to revolutionize countless industries, from healthcare to finance to transportation. It has already been used to develop self-driving cars, improve medical diagnoses, and enhance customer service. But as AI continues to advance, there are also concerns about its impact on society and the workforce.

One of the main concerns surrounding AI is the potential for job displacement. As AI becomes more sophisticated, it has the ability to automate tasks that were once performed by humans. This could lead to job losses in sectors such as manufacturing, retail, and customer service. While AI has the potential to create new job opportunities in fields such as data analysis and software development, there is a fear that these new jobs may not be accessible to everyone.

Another concern is the ethical implications of AI. As AI becomes more prevalent in society, there are questions about how it will be used and who will control it. There are concerns about bias in AI algorithms, which can lead to discriminatory outcomes in areas such as hiring and lending. There are also concerns about privacy and data security, as AI systems collect and analyze vast amounts of personal information.

Despite these concerns, there is no denying the potential benefits of AI. It has the ability to increase efficiency, improve decision-making, and enhance productivity. It can also help solve complex problems and improve the quality of life for people around the world.

As AI continues to advance, it is important for policymakers, businesses, and individuals to consider the ethical implications and ensure that AI is developed and used responsibly. By addressing these concerns and working together to harness the potential of AI, we can create a future where technology benefits everyone.
