A man in Utah is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly stabbing a registered sex offender 17 times for making inappropriate comments to his daughter.
Thad James Gurule, 32, was taken into custody and booked into Carbon County Jail following the incident at a Wellington residence. Authorities responded to a report of a blood-covered man on the porch, as per Fox13.
Emergency responders found the victim near the residence with multiple stab wounds. Although he survived the attack, his current condition remains unknown.
The victim revealed to law enforcement that he did not personally know the assailant but had encountered him at a post office a few days earlier, as reported by a local Fox affiliate.
Authorities identified the suspect as Gurule, who reportedly confessed to assaulting the victim after the latter made inappropriate remarks about his daughter.
Upon conducting an online search, Gurule discovered that the man was a registered sex offender, leading to the violent altercation.
