Victoria Beckham spoke with the “Today” show on Wednesday, revealing her business journey and its challenges that impacted her relationship with David Beckham.
The former-spice girl turned designer expressed, “There have been moments when my entire business seemed to be collapsing. I am incredibly fortunate that [David] has faith in me during times when others did not.”
David’s belief in her brand went so far that he invested his own resources when she faced significant debt … funds he reportedly wasn’t entirely confident in risking.
Victoria shares that her challenging past as a “laughingstock” makes her feel like she still has much to validate in the fashion industry, despite her brand’s success today.
In a preview from her upcoming Netflix documentary “Victoria Beckham,” David questions who she feels the need to prove herself to, to which she replies, “A lot of it is for you.”
She reflected, “I regret needing to rely on you for help during that time.”
VB touched upon overcoming an eating disorder, noting, “I converted that experience into something uplifting, embracing a positive lifestyle.”
She admitted to concealing her struggles from her family, urging others facing similar battles to reach out for support, emphasizing, “There’s no shame in it.”
The conversation took a playful turn as VB described their strategic poses on red carpets, which has occasionally been a light-hearted issue between them. David prefers standing on the left for photos, but VB enjoys smiling from that side instead. When asked about David’s preference, VB hilariously replied, “Have you seen David Beckham from the left?”
The documentary “Victoria Beckham” is currently available to stream on Netflix.
