Former Obama Aide Acknowledges Concerns About Biden’s Capabilities
Jon Lovett, a former aide to President Obama and co-host of the popular podcast “Pod Save America,” recently opened up in an interview with Jon Stewart about his hesitations regarding President Biden’s health and mental acuity. While he admitted he wasn’t privy to the inner workings of Biden’s team, Lovett expressed regret over his decision to remain silent about these pressing concerns.
The revealing episode of Jon Stewart’s “The Weekly Show” podcast aired on Thursday, shedding light on Lovett’s internal conflict.
“I remember feeling that I wanted to discuss this issue as a significant liability,” Lovett reflected. “However, I stopped short of saying, ‘I think Joe Biden should step down; he’s too old to serve as president.’”
Lovett emphasized, “I genuinely want him to succeed because I care about the country!”
In his remarks, Lovett articulated a desire to refrain from making a public fuss that could bolster opposition arguments against Biden. He aimed to strike a delicate balance between honesty regarding Biden’s age and the political ramifications of his words.
Lovett: “I remember feeling that I wanted to highlight this as a significant liability. I want to discuss this as something Joe Biden can overcome. But I’m not going to go so far as to say, ‘I think Joe Biden must drop out; he is too old to be president.’ This is because, one, I wasn’t entirely aware of what was happening behind the scenes, and two, if Joe Biden is indeed the candidate, I want him to f*cking win because I care about the country! I don’t want to be someone whose words get twisted and used against him by the Right, as they often do with any criticism from the Left. It was a matter of being truthful about the potential liability of Biden’s age while also wanting to do everything we could to ensure his re-election if he was the nominee.”
This admission comes at a time when various controversies surrounding Biden are surfacing, including the autopen scandal, ongoing discussions about his cognitive decline, his interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur, and the recent revelation of his cancer diagnosis.
As reported by , House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) has identified five aides to Biden who allegedly participated in the cover-up of his mental decline and the autopen scandal, calling for their testimony before the committee.
“In line with the investigation into the alleged cover-up regarding President Joe Biden’s mental decline and the potential unauthorized use of autopen for sweeping pardons and other executive actions, Chairman James Comer has sent letters to Biden’s physician and former White House aides demanding they appear for transcribed interviews,” the House Oversight Committee announced in a press release.
Chairman Comer has requested testimony from Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s White House physician, Neera Tanden (Director of the Domestic Policy Council), Anthony Bernal (Former Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor to First Lady Jill Biden), Annie Tomasini (Former Assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff), and Ashley Williams (Former Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Oval Office Operations).
Moreover, former Deputy Assistant Attorney General John Yoo suggested that Attorney General Pam Bondi should appoint Robert Hur as the special counsel to investigate those involved in concealing Biden’s declining health.
