Authorities in Zion, Illinois, are currently investigating a tragic car accident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian. The incident, which occurred on November 3, is believed to have been partially captured on a TikTok live stream, according to sources.
The Zion Police Department reported that the collision involved a 2015 Ford Edge and a pedestrian identified as 59-year-old Darren Lucas. The driver of the vehicle, a 43-year-old woman whose identity has not been disclosed, immediately contacted emergency services and cooperated with the authorities at the scene.
Tragically, Darren Lucas was pronounced dead upon arrival at Vista East Medical Center.
Subsequently, authorities were alerted to a TikTok live stream by user Tea_Tyme_3, which seemed to capture the driver speaking to the camera moments before the collision. The footage includes a sound similar to impact followed by the driver’s distress.
A voice, presumably that of a young passenger, can be heard asking, “What was that?”
“I just hit somebody,” the female driver appears to say, before inquiring about the condition of the pedestrian.
Law enforcement is actively pursuing leads to authenticate the video footage.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the case remains under investigation.
