A horrifying incident unfolded in Queens, where a group of home invaders targeted a residence, bound two women with tape, and made off with over $1 million in valuables. The brazen heist took place on Mayfair Road near 116th Street in Kew Gardens, as children slept inside the home.
The harrowing ordeal began when a 53-year-old nanny, who had just put the children to bed, went outside to take out the trash. She noticed five men exiting a white sedan and quickly rushed back inside, but the intruders were already on her heels. The men forcefully entered the home, with one of them pushing the nanny to the ground and restraining her while they bound her with tape. Another woman, 36, who was also present in the house, suffered the same fate.
The invaders proceeded to ransack the home, seizing a staggering $1,105,000 worth of jewelry, handbags, clothes, and other items. Their callous actions left the victims traumatized as they made their escape in a white 2021 Toyota Rav-4, with a sixth man waiting inside the vehicle. Fortunately, no one was physically harmed during the attack.
Despite the release of surveillance footage capturing the suspects entering and leaving the premises with their loot, they remained at large as of Wednesday. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) for Spanish speakers. Tips can also be submitted online through the Crime Stoppers website or via @NYPDTips on social media.
The audacious nature of this crime has shocked the community, highlighting the importance of remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious activity to law enforcement. The victims’ sense of security has been shattered, emphasizing the need for increased safety measures to prevent such incidents from reoccurring.
