Recent incidents of armed robbery have rocked the Near West Side of Chicago, with at least three victims falling prey to violent attacks this month. Chicago police have issued a community alert detailing the incidents, which include one victim being kidnapped and forced to withdraw money from an ATM.
According to CPD, a group of three men approached the victims on the street, demanding money. When the victims resisted, the perpetrators brandished a handgun and an “assault-style rifle” to intimidate them. The crew also resorted to violence against victims who tried to prevent them from searching their pockets for valuables.
The robbers made off with cash, jewelry, wallets, credit and debit cards, and even a Green Card in one instance. In a particularly harrowing incident, a victim was coerced into a Chevy vehicle and driven to an ATM to withdraw money under duress.
The robberies occurred in the 2100 block of South Wood on October 7 at 12:30 a.m., the 800 block of South Western Avenue on October 11 at 12:02 p.m., and the 1700 block of West Ogden on October 12 at 11:30 p.m.
Chicago police have provided descriptions of three suspects involved in the crimes:

- A Hispanic man wearing a red ball cap, bandana, black shirt, and dark jeans
