Disturbing Hazing Incident at University of Iowa Captured on Police Body Camera Footage
Recently surfaced police body camera footage from a hazing incident at the University of Iowa has shocked viewers as it shows shirtless and blindfolded fraternity pledges covered in food in a dark basement.
The footage, uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday, captured police and firefighters responding to a fire alarm at the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity in November 2024, according to the Iowa City Press Citizen.

Upon entering the basement, officers found 56 shirtless and blindfolded pledges covered in food. The situation was described as a hazing ritual by one of the officers present at the scene.
One man, who later identified himself as Joseph Gaya, was seen in the basement doorway drinking a beer and claiming the fraternity was having a “celebration of life.”

Gaya was arrested the following day but the charges against him were later dropped. The University of Iowa conducted an investigation and suspended the fraternity for four years as a result of the incident.
