Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently expressed his desire for President Trump to recognize Russia as the aggressor in Europe’s ongoing conflict and to use US strength against Moscow. In an interview with Ben Shapiro, Zelensky emphasized the importance of peace through strength when dealing with Russia, the aggressor in the conflict.

Zelensky highlighted the need for the United States to stand as a strong strategic partner against Russia, rejecting any notion that Ukraine initiated the war. He stressed the pain caused to the Ukrainian people by such claims and the importance of US support in countering Russian aggression.

As the Trump administration pressured Ukraine to sign a peace proposal that included recognizing Crimea as Russian territory, Zelensky remained firm in his stance against such terms. Prominent conservative voices like Ben Shapiro have advocated for continued US support for Ukraine in its defense against Russian invaders.

Zelensky also addressed his Oval Office meeting with Trump and Vice President JD Vance, acknowledging the need for more fruitful discussions in the future. He reiterated Ukraine’s position in defending against Russia’s aggression and emphasized the country’s belief in the United States as a true friend.

President Trump’s recent criticism of Russian President Vladimir Putin for missile strikes in Kyiv further underscored the complex dynamics of the conflict. Despite previous statements on peace and strength, Trump’s approach to the Russia-Ukraine war has faced scrutiny.

Zelensky defended the military aid received from the US, highlighting the transparency in its allocation and the benefits to both countries. He emphasized Ukraine’s role as a shield for NATO against Russia, preventing the need for direct Western intervention.
