Random Attack in Brooklyn: Elderly Man Assaulted with Shovel
On a snowy day in Brooklyn, a 71-year-old man fell victim to a brutal and unprovoked attack. The assailant, described as a nutjob, approached the elderly man near Stryker Court and West 1st Street in Gravesend around 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 27. Without a word, the attacker struck the victim in the head with a shovel, leaving him injured and in shock.
The perpetrator fled the scene immediately after the assault, leaving the victim in need of medical attention. The injured man was quickly transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Coney Island, where he was reported to be in stable condition.
Despite efforts by law enforcement, the suspect remains at large as of Sunday afternoon. Police have released surveillance footage of the perpetrator in hopes of identifying and apprehending him. The public is urged to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
