There are two things I firmly believe: first, that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are truly in love (seriously, would anyone compose a song like “Wood” if they weren’t completely smitten?), and second, that Kelce’s genuine, laid-back demeanor signifies a positive transformation for Swift—a refreshing change from her past attraction to aloof, slender indie types, like Matty Healy, which started to feel both overly familiar and overdue for a halt.
It brings me joy to see Swift radiating happiness with a guy who lives and breathes football and who boldly sports a Happy Gilmore hat at Coachella. The stories she shares about him absolutely crack me up. Recently, on Late Night with Seth Meyers, while promoting her latest album The Life of a Showgirl, Swift recounted a hilarious moment when Kelce mistook Hugh Grant’s wife for Greta Gerwig at one of her Eras Tour concerts. Swift humorously quizzed him, “Could it be that you complimented Hugh Grant’s wife, Anna, about her film Barbie, asserting, ‘I’m just Ken, too,’ and she just nodded politely, not wanting to inform you she wasn’t involved in it?”
