Walton Goggins, known for his roles in series like “The Shield” and “Justified,” is stepping into the shoes of The Grinch once again, this time to promote Walmart’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. Goggins, who has been featured in Walmart ads since June, admits that taking on the iconic character was a daunting task.

In a recent interview, Goggins expressed his initial excitement at the idea of playing The Grinch, followed by anxiety as he realized the weight of portraying such a beloved literary figure. Immersing himself in Dr. Seuss’ classic tale, Goggins delved into the character’s motivations and transformation from a grumpy cynic to someone who learns the true meaning of the holiday season.

The actor’s true connection with The Grinch came to light during the prosthetic application process for the commercial shoot. As he donned the iconic makeup, Goggins found the essence of the character – someone who is irritated and slightly annoyed, yet ultimately endearing. Even his wife saw a relatable side to The Grinch, despite his grumpy exterior.

Walmart has a history of using pop culture references in their holiday campaigns, with actors from various hit shows and movies coming together to promote the retailer’s deals. This year, Walmart is offering discounts on a range of products, including a 10-in-1 game table set, a 3D printer, and a towel warmer.

Goggins, who has been venturing into more commercial work, credits actor Samuel L. Jackson for inspiring him to add his own twist to advertising projects. Jackson’s advice to find his unique voice in delivering messages resonated with Goggins, giving him the confidence to bring his own authenticity to the table.

When asked if he would reprise his role as The Grinch for Walmart in the future, Goggins expressed his enjoyment of the character but left the decision in the hands of the higher-ups. For now, Goggins’ portrayal of The Grinch adds a touch of holiday spirit to Walmart’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday promotions, reminding shoppers of the joy of giving and camaraderie during the festive season.
