In a striking incident reflective of the tensions surrounding immigration policies, a protester encountered a harsh lesson in the phrase “mess around and find out” while demonstrating against President Trump’s stance on immigration in Los Angeles this past Sunday.
A clip shared by NBC News captured the moment when a protester, possibly fueled by fervor, stepped directly in front of a moving vehicle in an attempt to halt its progress. This confrontation occurred during one of the many anti-ICE protests that have been proliferating in liberal urban centers over recent weeks.
The female protester was seen pressing herself against the vehicle as it tried to navigate around her and other demonstrators. Unfortunately for her, this decision did not end well.
In what can only be described as a desperate move to avoid what she perceived as a threat, the driver accelerated, resulting in one of her legs becoming trapped beneath the car’s right front tire.
Her subsequent screams of pain echoed as the vehicle sped away, leaving the crowd in shock, with several protesters reacting vocally in the aftermath of the incident.
WATCH:
According to a report from KTLA, the injured woman was transported to the hospital with “isolated lower extremity” injuries and is currently in stable condition.
Footage from the Citizen App also showed LA Fire Department personnel attending to the protester, who has been identified as being in her 20s.
Local authorities are currently investigating the incident, and as of now, the driver remains unaccounted for.
Interestingly, had this incident occurred in Florida, the driver might have received commendations for their actions. However, given the Los Angeles setting, it’s likely that the driver will be left to navigate their own concerns.
