Rep. Tim Burchett Sounds Alarm on Epstein Files: Don’t Hold Your Breath
In a striking interview on CNN’s State of the Union, Republican Congressman Tim Burchett issued a stark warning to the public regarding the much-anticipated files related to Jeffrey Epstein. His message was clear: don’t expect any revelations anytime soon, as Washington has a penchant for burying uncomfortable truths.
Burchett expressed his concerns as he noted, “We’re at a point where they might start releasing files, but my biggest fear, Jake, is that we have a thousand children who suffered at the hands of this monster, who is now burning in hell. Yet, the American public is distracted, pointing fingers and politicizing this matter, which is fundamentally inaccurate.”
In response, Jake Tapper highlighted that ten Republicans, including Burchett, have backed Congressman Thomas Massie’s discharge petition aimed at forcing a vote on the legislation to release Epstein’s files. However, this petition requires 218 signatures to succeed.
Massie’s initiative, co-sponsored alongside Democratic Representative Ro Khanna, currently holds the support of 16 members of Congress.
79% of Americans support releasing the Epstein files, but only 16 members of Congress have sponsored the legislation to do so.
After 7 legislative days, I’ll be able to collect signatures to force a vote on my bill to release all the files. Cosponsors: https://t.co/Y9hj5s4PiZ pic.twitter.com/p74pD96x26

Tapper pointed out the likely support from Democrats but noted the uphill battle the legislation faces among Republicans, despite its popularity within the MAGA base. “Presumably, a lot of Democrats will be on board,” Tapper stated. “Yet many Republican leaders appear eager to see this issue quietly fade away. Do you really think you’ll gather the 218 signatures needed for the discharge petition? How many Republicans will stand with you?”
Burchett’s response was tinged with resignation: “I have no earthly idea, Jake. This town is notorious for burying its secrets. You’ve even written a successful book on that very theme, and America seems to agree with you. This town simply does not relinquish its secrets easily.”
He elaborated on his fears regarding the files, accusing the Biden administration of potentially tampering with them. “In my opinion, this administration has a troubling history of corruption, and I worry we may never fully uncover the truth,” Burchett asserted.
