Left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed made an impressive start for India A as he claimed his first wicket in a Duleep Trophy clash against India B. The match took place at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday, September 5.
The breakthrough came in the 21st over of India B’s innings when Khaleel bowled a short and wide delivery outside off-stump. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opener for India B, attempted to cut the ball but ended up edging it to substitute fielder Shaswat Rawat, who took a comfortable catch at backward point.
Jaiswal had contributed 30 runs off 59 balls, including six boundaries, before his dismissal. This wicket left India B at 53-2 after 21.1 overs.
In the first session of the game, India B’s openers, Jaiswal and Abhimanyu Easwaran, had put on a 33-run partnership off 78 balls. However, Avesh Khan managed to dismiss Easwaran, who had scored 13 runs off 42 balls, with a spectacular catch by Dhruv Jurel behind the stumps.
Khaleel then struck again by removing the dangerous Jaiswal for 30 runs. At the time of writing, India B were 62-2 after 26 overs, with Musheer Khan and Sarfaraz Khan at the crease. Avesh and Khaleel had each taken a wicket for India A.
