President Trump is set to make a significant announcement this afternoon, with reports indicating that it will focus on prescription drug prices and a deal involving Pfizer.
According to The Hill,
“President Trump is pioneering efforts to reduce healthcare costs unlike anyone else in Washington, D.C. While Democrats are poised to potentially shut down the federal government to subsidize health care for undocumented immigrants, President Trump is using federal leverage to significantly lower drug prices for average Americans,” stated White House spokesperson Kush Desai.
Desai further emphasized, “For decades, Democrats have merely talked a big game about drug pricing, but it is President Trump who is actually delivering results.”
In a related social media post, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt hinted at a new platform named TrumpRx, described as a “direct-to-consumer website for Americans to purchase medications.”
This announcement comes at a critical juncture as the government faces an impending shutdown. Democrats are maintaining their stance on issues such as Affordable Care Act subsidies and cuts to Medicaid while also preparing for a speech from Trump alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth at a substantial gathering of military leaders.
Trump has also previewed his announcement, telling reporters that the prices of prescription drugs are “set to decline significantly.”
