Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador, has somehow managed to become a favored figure among certain liberal media and political circles, despite his troubling background.

This notorious gang member was deported to his home country’s Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) on March 15, 2025, after spending nearly 15 years living illegally in Maryland.

Despite assertions that he is merely a devoted family man, the evidence linking Abrego Garcia to MS-13 is far from ambiguous.

In March 2019, he was apprehended by Prince George’s County Police during a loitering incident at a Home Depot, alongside two known MS-13 affiliates. Investigations revealed that Abrego Garcia held the title of “Chequeo,” a ranking position within the gang, operating under the alias “Chele.” His attire—a Chicago Bulls cap paired with a gang-themed hoodie—did little to bolster his claims of innocence.

The Department of Homeland Security officially classified him as a “verified” MS-13 member in 2019.

In May 2021, his wife, Jennifer Vasquez Sura, sought a temporary protective order against him, accusing him of domestic violence that included physical assaults.

Attorney General Pam Bondi has emphatically stated that Abrego Garcia will not be allowed to return to the United States.

“He is an illegal alien who has been living unlawfully in our country,” Bondi asserted at a press conference. “ICE testified, and an immigration judge ruled, he was a member of MS-13. An appellate judge also affirmed this. Case closed,” she underscored. “He should not be in our country.”

“He was deported. They needed one additional step in paperwork, but now, MS-13 is rightfully recognized as a Foreign Terrorist Organization,” Bondi elaborated. “He could have returned had that paperwork been processed.”

Further emphasizing the situation, Bondi stated, “He’s from El Salvador. He’s in El Salvador, and that’s where the president intends to keep him.”
