In the lead-up to the ‘No Kings’ protests orchestrated by leftist groups last weekend, a sheriff in Brevard County, Florida, issued a formidable warning to potential disruptors: any individual who threw explosives at law enforcement or aimed a firearm at officers would face lethal consequences.
This stern yet direct caution proved effective, as Florida witnessed no riots during the anticipated protests.
However, on MSNBC, Rachel Maddow took a different approach, delivering what can only be described as a blatant misrepresentation of the sheriff’s message. She suggested that he would resort to killing individuals merely for protesting and mockingly implied that she and her cohort were defying his threat by protesting nonetheless.
This interpretation bears little resemblance to the sheriffâs actual warning, a fact that Maddow seems to be acutely aware of.
Hereâs a transcript of her remarks, as reported by NewsBusters:
RACHEL MADDOW: You may have encountered headlines last week concerning the Brevard County sheriff who convened a press conference to threaten that he would unleash dogs on protesters and that his officers wouldnât just arrest dissenters but would also send them to the hospital.
He explicitly declared at that press conference, âWe will kill you,â regarding the violence he anticipated at any anti-Trump demonstrations in Brevard County, Florida. Despite this bizarre display of intimidation, it appears that residents in Brevard County were not deterred by his pronouncement.
As local headlines reveal, ââNo Kingsâ anti-Trump protests draw thousands,â in areas like Cocoa and Palm Bay. The sheriff issues a death threat, and Brevard County responds with a resounding, âWe have the right to protest. We can create protest signs of any nature, even those depicting Donald Trump in a flamboyant wig reminiscent of Marie Antoinette saying, âLet them eat cake,â and you will not halt our efforts. We are Americans, and we reserve the right to do this; we will protest.â

Maddow reportedly earns tens of millions of dollars annually for her work, which amounts to one day a week, and yet this is how she chooses to engage her audience: through deliberate misinformation.
