The season concluded with a time jump showing Watson dating someone new and putting away a box containing possessions of his late friend, Sherlock Holmes. Before taking on the role in a show based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories, Morris Chestnut, who plays Watson, reflected on how his character would acknowledge the legendary detective.
Chestnut mentioned that he did not consult past Watson performances but instead focused on portraying a character who is typically not the main focus in other adaptations. He expressed openness to the possibility of seeing Holmes on screen in the future, even suggesting actors like Robert Downey Jr. to take on the role.
