With the 2025 MLB season now over, Kansas City Royals standout Bobby Witt Jr. took some time off to enjoy a hockey game with his wife, Maggie, this past week. The couple attended the Dallas Stars’ matchup against the Edmonton Oilers at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday. Witt Jr. was even mic’d up at the glass, providing commentary on the game to his wife.
During the game, Witt Jr. expressed his excitement by saying, “This is way better than watching Dancing with the Stars.” He also pointed out a play by Stars forward Mikko Rantanen, mentioning that the player had been traded to the team. Rantanen had signed a lucrative $96 million contract extension with the Stars after being acquired in a trade, and Witt Jr. was impressed by his performance during the game against the Oilers.
As the game progressed and both teams fought hard, it eventually went into a shootout. Thanks to some stellar plays by goaltender Casey DeSmith, the Stars emerged victorious with a 4-3 win.
In a similar fashion, another MLB star, Blake Snell of the Los Angeles Dodgers, also attended an NHL game this week. Snell, a two-time Cy Young winner, was joined by his Dodgers teammates Evan Phillips and Alex Call at the LA Kings’ game against the Florida Panthers on Thursday. The trio even had the honor of reading out the Kings’ starting lineup for the game, bringing along the World Series trophy to celebrate their recent back-to-back championship win.
Overall, it was an exciting week for both Witt Jr. and Snell as they took a break from baseball to enjoy some thrilling hockey action. It’s always refreshing to see professional athletes supporting and enjoying other sports outside of their own.
