Valentina Cervantes, the ex-wife of Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez, has recently opened up about her relationship with the midfielder before their separation earlier this year. Fernandez made headlines with his £107 million move to Chelsea in January 2023, a Premier League record fee at the time that was eventually surpassed by Moises Caicedo’s £115 million transfer.

The couple went their separate ways in October, a period when the 23-year-old midfielder was struggling for playing time. However, Fernandez has since bounced back and showcased impressive form, contributing to 10 goals in eight games across various competitions for Chelsea since the beginning of November.

In a candid interview with Game, Set & Match, Cervantes shed light on her past with the player and their amicable split. The social media influencer revealed, “Everything was fine and suddenly one day he told me that he didn’t want to be anymore. There are things that I still have to process, but that’s it, I accepted it.” She also shared insights into their early days together, mentioning their financial struggles and the birth of their daughter Olivia when she was just 19 years old.

When asked about her current feelings towards Fernandez, Cervantes expressed, “I think love is still there because it is very difficult for it to leave so quickly. I don’t depend on a man or anyone to be happy. With the company of my children, I will always be happy.”

On the professional front, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca commended Fernandez for his resilience and positive attitude despite facing challenges with playing time. Maresca highlighted Fernandez as a role model for the rest of the team, emphasizing the midfielder’s dedication and work ethic even when out of the starting lineup.

Looking ahead, Chelsea is set to take on Shamrock Rivers in the Conference League on Thursday night. The team will aim to continue their winning streak with Fernandez in fine form and Maresca leading the charge from the sidelines.

Overall, the story of Enzo Fernandez and Valentina Cervantes showcases a mix of personal growth, professional success, and resilience in the face of adversity. Their journey serves as a reminder of the complexities of relationships and the importance of self-reliance in finding happiness.
