Welcome to the New Colossal — Colossal

Colossal has just unveiled its new look and website, marking the fifth iteration of the platform in 14 years. The team behind the redesign has put in countless hours of work, from adjusting color palettes to moving servers and consuming copious amounts of pizza in the process.

Founded in 2010, Colossal initially started as a blog in a time when artists relied on personal websites to showcase their work. Fast forward to today, where social media dominates the online landscape, and Colossal has evolved into an online magazine with millions of readers. In 2019, a membership program was launched to support the platform and keep it running smoothly.

The previous website served its purpose for seven years, but it was time for a major update. Working with design studio Firebelly and developer Jordon Rupp, the team at Colossal has crafted a fresh new identity that reflects the platform’s growth and evolution.

So, what’s new on the revamped Colossal website? One exciting feature is the ability to bookmark articles, exclusive to Colossal Members. This allows readers to save their favorite pieces for later reference. Additionally, an art glossary has been added to help explain common terms and techniques, making art more accessible to students and lifelong learners.

Another standout feature is the Explore option, which offers a visual search experience on the site. With over 3,000 broken links fixed and outdated posts removed, the archive is now more user-friendly and worth exploring.

As users navigate the new website, feedback is welcomed to ensure a seamless experience. And for those who value independent arts publishing, becoming a Colossal Member for as little as $7 per month offers benefits such as ad-free browsing, discounts in the Colossal Shop, and a members-only newsletter.

In conclusion, the new Colossal website represents a fresh chapter in the platform’s journey, blending the familiar with the innovative to provide a rich and engaging experience for art enthusiasts and readers alike.
