I can hardly contain my excitement at the thought of reuniting with Andrea Sachs and the rest of the Runway crew in the eagerly awaited follow-up to The Devil Wears Prada, even without my connection to Vogue (office romances à la roman? How original!). But the announcement that none other than the multitalented Lady Gaga will star in The Devil Wears Prada 2 has me utterly thrilled.
As it stands, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, and will bring back iconic performances from Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, alongside a fantastic ensemble of supporting actors including Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B. J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Rachel Bloom, Patrick Brammall, comedian Caleb Hearon, and Broadway talents Helen J Shen and Conrad Ricamora. Why not add Lady Gaga to this delicious mix of Hollywood stars?
I’m at a loss regarding how Lady Gaga will fit into the narrative, which, as previously reported, is expected to focus on Streep’s iconic fashion editor Miranda Priestly confronting the collapse of traditional magazine publishing while facing off against her former assistant Emily Charlton (Blunt), who now wields influence as a luxury group executive. My best guess is that Lady Gaga may appear as herself at some glamorous black-tie event, or perhaps a grand museum gala. Could she also be the fresh assistant in the mix? Or the long-suffering nanny to Emily? Or, as a colleague playfully speculated in a Slack chat today, might she channel her House of Gucci character as the editor of Runway Italia? I absolutely can’t wait to discover the answer!
