Controversy Surrounding Matt Gaetz’s Cosmetic Transformation at the Republican National Convention
When Congressman Matt Gaetz made an appearance at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he became the subject of public ridicule for his noticeably different appearance. With plump cheekbones, arched eyebrows, and a stiff face, Gaetz’s wrinkle-free look sparked a wave of mockery and speculation about his alleged use of Botox and fillers.
Internet users wasted no time in creating memes and trolling Gaetz for what they deemed as an excessive cosmetic transformation. Many pointed out his overly smooth forehead and questioned the authenticity of his appearance.
Dr. Corey L. Hartman, a board-certified dermatologist, weighed in on Gaetz’s new look in an interview. While he has not personally treated Gaetz, Dr. Hartman shared his professional opinion on the congressman’s cosmetic enhancements.
“It’s too heavy in the forehead and not lateral enough to prevent Spock Eye,” Dr. Hartman explained. “Plus, the glabellar injections seem to use an older technique that pushes the brow down, giving him a more menacing appearance. He also appears to have lid ptosis on both eyes.”
Dr. Hartman pointed out that an excessive use of neuromodulators in the forehead can result in the appearance Gaetz exhibited. He also speculated that Gaetz may have undergone laser resurfacing or a chemical peel to achieve tighter skin.
While Gaetz has not publicly commented on the speculation surrounding his cosmetic procedures, the attention his appearance received at the convention has certainly sparked a conversation about the line between natural aging and cosmetic enhancements in the political sphere.
