Grey’s Anatomy is currently on a break. When will the show resume?
The popular medical drama is slated to return to ABC on April 30, featuring the second-to-last episode before the conclusion of season 22. The previous episode ended with Miranda (Chandra Wilson) attempting to cover up that Kwan (Harry Shum Jr.) had given a patient an unauthorized experimental treatment.
Miranda’s husband, Ben (Jason Winston George), discovered the secret, and Richard (James Pickens Jr.) soon realized the situation. He summoned Miranda to his office to inform her of an impending investigation into the incident, unaware that Kwan was responsible.
Behind the scenes, it was announced that Kevin McKidd and Kim Raver would be departing the series at the end of the season. Their storylines are anticipated to wrap up in the season finale, airing on May 7.
Before the series returns, Camilla Luddington shared insights about what fans can expect.
“There are so many cliffhangers, actually, in the finale,” Luddington, 42, exclusively mentioned to Us Weekly earlier this month. “That’s what we do.”
Luddington, who portrays Jo, hinted that the finale is packed with events.
“It’s a really big finale. We have someone from Station 19 showing up. Danielle is back with us, which is really fun. It’s a lot of drama,” she remarked. “For Jo in particular, she ends up at a crossroads in her career. She has some big career decisions to make in the finale.”
Discussing the frequent cast changes on Grey’s Anatomy, Luddington hinted that Jo is likely safe after recently giving birth on screen.
“I do play that game of like, ‘Listen, she almost died.’ I have those conversations too. I talked to our showrunner and I’ll ask her questions about the season. Sadly, they don’t give enough away for us,” she continued. “We are left wondering. But you know, I get to pitch stories too, which is really fun with her. Listen, I don’t think that you can ever consider yourself safe when you work at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.”
Luddington expressed her appreciation for her involvement in the series thus far.
“That is what our show does so well is it shows how messy motherhood can be,” she gushed. “She has four kids and we do a good job of showing that at times she’s just not OK. I know there’s a lot of Team Jo fans out there and I really appreciate that.”
Grey’s Anatomy will return to ABC on Thursday, April 30, at 10 p.m. ET, and will be available for streaming on Hulu the following day.
