Tiger Woods, the legendary golfer, has had the privilege of playing alongside some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment. In a recent interview, he shared his experience of playing with some of the most impressive celebrities on the golf course.
One of the standout pairings for Woods was with the Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Big Three – Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz. These Atlanta Braves pitchers, known for their dominance on the baseball field in the 1990s, showcased their golfing skills as well. Despite Woods shooting an impressive 62, he ended up losing money to the Hall of Famers during their game.
Reflecting on their ‘epic’ golf outing, Woods mentioned, “[John] Smoltz, [Tom] Glavine, and [Greg] Maddux when they were all pitching with the Braves. That was epic. I shot 62 and lost money.” He also noted that John Smoltz and former NFL quarterback Tony Romo were among the best amateur golfers he had played with.
However, Woods’ golfing future is uncertain following his recent surgery. Having undergone multiple surgeries over the years, including a disk replacement surgery in October, Woods is taking his rehabilitation process step by step. With five starts on the PGA Tour this year, he has not committed to a future tournament schedule yet.
Speaking about his future plans, Woods mentioned, “I’m just looking forward to just let me get back to playing again, let me do that and then I’ll kind of figure out what the schedule is going to be.” He emphasized the importance of taking it slow and assessing his physical condition before committing to any tournaments, especially on the Champions Tour.
Recovery from a disk replacement surgery is a complex process, and Woods is mindful of not rushing his return to competitive golf. With a history of spinal fusion procedures and limited tournament appearances in recent years, Woods is focused on his rehabilitation and taking each day as it comes.
As Woods navigates his recovery and contemplates his future in golf, fans eagerly await his return to the course. His determination and resilience have been evident throughout his career, and no doubt, he will approach this latest challenge with the same level of dedication and passion.
