Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed his confidence in Jasprit Bumrah’s ability to manage his body effectively during the upcoming England Test series. With Team India set to face England in a five-match Test series starting on June 20, Bumrah’s workload will be carefully managed to prevent any potential injuries.

Bumrah, who has been plagued by back injuries throughout his career, is likely to feature in only three out of the five Tests as part of India’s strategy to preserve his fitness. The 31-year-old’s latest setback occurred during India’s previous red-ball series in Australia, where he was unable to participate in the final Test after sustaining an injury in the first innings, leading to India’s defeat in the match and the series.

Speaking about the importance of Bumrah in the England series, Harbhajan emphasized the fast bowler’s understanding of his own body and the need to keep him fresh for the entire series. Harbhajan praised Bumrah as a brilliant athlete and expressed his hope that Bumrah would be able to feature in all five Test matches against England.

Bumrah has been in exceptional form in Test cricket since the beginning of 2024, taking 73 wickets in 14 matches at an impressive average of 15, including five 5-wicket hauls.

Analyzing Bumrah’s performances in Tests in England, the champion pacer has enjoyed significant success in the country, picking up 37 wickets in nine matches at an average of 26.27. His standout performance came during the 2021/22 tour, where he finished as the leading wicket-taker in the five-Test series, claiming 23 wickets at an average of 22.47. Bumrah’s overall Test record against England is equally impressive, with 60 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 22.16, including three 5-wicket hauls.

As India gears up to take on England in the upcoming Test series, all eyes will be on Jasprit Bumrah and his ability to maintain his fitness and continue his stellar performances on the field. With Harbhajan Singh’s backing and a track record of success in English conditions, Bumrah will be a key player for Team India as they aim for victory against England.
