OnlyFans sensation Kit Barrus grew up in a Mormon family, which she decided to leave during her teenage years. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Kit revealed that she no longer regards herself as a “religious person.”

“I gained a lot from my Mormon upbringing, but I also encountered a fair bit of negativity. Overall, I’d say it’s been a neutral experience for me,” she shared. “However, many people I’ve met have had much more negative outcomes.”

After distancing herself from the church, Kit began to establish a modest following on TikTok while managing a variety of other jobs. It was the encouragement of her fans that led her to create an OnlyFans account, thereby stepping into the adult content space. “In reality, I’m quite a vanilla creator,” she joked to Us about her adult-themed videos.

In her initial month on the platform, Kit earned $10,000. “It was absolutely astonishing,” Kit reflected in her conversation with Us. “It totally changed my life. I thought, ‘I cannot let this opportunity slip by—I need to capitalize on this.’ So, I invested in a camera and purchased some lighting equipment. I committed to it fully.”

Regarding the influence of her Mormon background on her current career, Kit expressed that she still considers herself a “spiritual person.”

“I believe everyone has a spiritual side because we all experience hope—it’s such a deeply human emotion, and we want to feel that there’s more to us than just our physical bodies,” she articulated. “It’s challenging because religion does provide a certain structure.”

Kit mentioned conversations with fellow ex-Mormons who share similar sentiments, noting that those who come from the faith tend to be “kind, generous, and giving.”

“You’re instilled with an incredible set of values, but you also carry the trauma along for the ride. Nevertheless, I’ve encountered many amazing people who’ve left the church, and I have immense trust in them,” she shared.

“I kept it a complete secret at first,” Kit confessed about her OnlyFans launch. “I received a lot of negative responses back then, which has definitely shaped my interactions with people today. Even now, I don’t openly announce it. You have to understand me a bit to know.”

Her parents are among those who have been not informed about her new career.

“I’m not sure if they’ll ever find out. We’re in a great place right now, and if they did discover it, I believe my dad would just pretend to be unaware. I think it’s better for our relationship that way,” she remarked, mentioning that she and her father meet a couple of times weekly. “He’s in a place where he’d just say, ‘I didn’t see that; I don’t know anything about it. I’m just focusing on enjoying my time with my daughter.’”
