The White House responded sharply to former Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday, referencing her famous “cackle” in the wake of her disparaging comments about members of the Trump administration , whom she labeled as “motherf—ers” and “crazy” during a recent book tour stop.
“There’s so much about this moment that is trying to make people feel like they’ve lost their minds, when in fact, these motherf—ers are crazy,” Harris declared at the “A Day of Unreasonable Conversation” summit in Los Angeles on Monday.
The crowd in Los Angeles erupted in applause after her expletive-laden remark, an enthusiastic reaction that seemed to bring amusement and laughter to Harris herself.
In response to Harris’s comments, White House spokesperson Kush Desai suggested in a statement to TMZ, “Kamala Harris should listen to an audio recording of her cackle of a laugh before calling anyone crazy.”
For years, Harris has faced criticism regarding her distinctive laughter, with some questioning its authenticity.
The unsuccessful presidential candidate frequently showcased her signature laugh throughout her campaign, often using it as a way to mitigate criticisms from President Trump, including his accusations of her being a Marxist, during their sole presidential debate.
Doug Emhoff, the former second gentleman, fondly recalled at the 2024 Democratic National Convention how he became enamored with Harris and her laugh after leaving her an awkward voicemail which she returned.
“She called me back and we talked for an hour. We laughed — you know that laugh! I love that laugh,” Emhoff shared about his wife.
In her ongoing promotion of the memoir, “107 Days,” which details her unsuccessful presidential campaign, Harris engaged in a profanity-laced tirade just a day prior to her LA engagement.
“This moment requires us to debunk some of the narratives they’re trying to sell the American people: to scapegoat, rather than owning up to the responsibilities that the powerful should have to exhibit some level of concern, care, or basic f—ing curiosity for the well-being of others,” Harris stated at an event held in San Francisco on Sunday.
Her office has not yet responded to The Post’s inquiry for comment.
