The Ever-Charming Jeremy Allen White: A Modern Masculine Icon
There are a few eternally reassuring constants in life: the sun will always rise in the east and set in the west, taxes will always be due in mid-April (unless the DOGE crew succeeds in dismantling whatās left of the federal government), and Jeremy Allen White will always be caught by the paparazzi carrying giant arrays of flowers like a beautiful satyr creating al fresco bouquets to decorate his woodland home.
God willing, anyway: Is it a sad referendum on modern masculinity that Iām (still) so charmed by the sight of a rugged Hollywood hunk stopping to appreciate the small, beautiful things in life?
Itās been a long and cold season since we last saw our favorite The Bear star stockpiling flowers around Valentineās Day in 2024, but luckily, he reverted to type this past weekend at an LA farmer’s market that I am very much hoping is not the Atwater one I go to every Sunday except this one. (Seriously, if Jeremy Allen White happened to hit up my local farmerās market on the one day I wasnāt there, I will rend my garments.)
And while I do love the idea of White simply spoiling himself with a fresh bunch of sunflowers and other spring blooms as part of a āself-care Sundayā routine that also includes journaling and changing his sheets, I fear I canāt help but wonder: who are the flowers for???
I was elated to find out last year that White was allegedly dating his The Bear costar Molly Gordon, partly because the two share genuine chemistry on the show and partly because Gordon has won my loyalty for life with her interpretation of dippy, past-life-accessing music teacher Rebecca-Diane in the 2023 film Theater Camp; if thereās anyone who deserves to be on the receiving end of Whiteās penchant for floral splurges, itās Molly Gordon! So, yes, obviously White could have been flower-shopping for his mom or his buddy this past weekend (yes, straight men can and should buy each other flowers), but I very much hope that stunning bouquet is currently adorning a kitchen table at Gordonās house. Welcome back, true romance!
