During a panel discussion, a recent “Cosmopolitan” article was brought up. The piece explored a woman who, although content in a long-term relationship, still felt nostalgic for her single days.
Whoopi Goldberg, at 70, found she could relate to this sentiment. When co-host Joy Behar, 83, asked if Goldberg missed being single, Goldberg affirmed, “I am single.”
Behar expressed surprise, suggesting she didn’t see Goldberg as someone who frequents bars for dates. To this, Goldberg replied, “Yeah, I bar hop. I go hang! I do hit and runs when I need it!”
Co-host Sara Haines jokingly added, “the guys’ll love that,” to which Goldberg confidently responded, “They do.”
Goldberg’s mention of “hit and run” evoked applause from the audience. She had previously used the term in December when expressing her lack of interest in committed relationships.
Goldberg has been a proponent of maintaining a laid-back approach to relationships.
In February, she shared with Interview Magazine that her experience over the past 25 years has taught her that not everyone is suited for a relationship, and some people are simply meant for one-night stands.
“I don’t want to live with anybody. I lived with my daughter. That’s all I can handle,” Goldberg explained. “I have lots of people that I love, but I don’t need them living with me. I don’t need to be sleeping with them.”
