Motorola Unveils the Razr Fold: An Incomplete Picture
Motorola’s much-anticipated first book-style foldable phone, the Motorola Razr Fold, was finally revealed at Lenovo’s Tech World conference at CES 2026. The event, held in the Sphere, showcased the new device alongside a flagship phone and other products. However, the unveiling left much to be desired, as key details about the Razr Fold were still unknown.
The Razr Fold features a pair of 120Hz OLED displays, with a 6.56-inch cover screen that unfolds to reveal an 8.09-inch internal panel. Both screens support Motorola’s new Pen Ultra stylus. The device boasts a five-camera setup, including three 50MP rear sensors for main, telephoto, and ultrawide shots. It will be available in Pantone’s ‘Blackened Blue’ and ‘Lily White’ finishes, although the prominent camera bump may not appeal to all users.
While Motorola revealed some specifications, crucial details such as battery size, charging speed, IP rating, weight, and processor information were left undisclosed. The device will run on Android 16 with vague promises of multitasking enhancements and flexible layouts. The length of software support and other performance metrics remain unknown, raising questions about the device’s overall capabilities.
The Price Will Make or Break It
The success of the Razr Fold hinges on its pricing, which has yet to be officially announced. However, renowned leaker Evan Blass hinted at an attractive starting price of $1500 in the US, making it more affordable than its competitors like the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. If Motorola can deliver a compelling foldable experience at this price point, it may pave the way for more affordable folding phones in the market.
While the Razr Fold’s aggressive pricing could make it a viable option for consumers, the lack of crucial details and the looming competition from other manufacturers raise uncertainties about its success. The device is set to be released in the summer of 2026, with more information expected to be unveiled at MWC 2026 in March. As the foldable phone landscape continues to evolve, the Motorola Razr Fold’s performance and pricing will be closely watched by industry experts and consumers alike.
