Nalden, the co-founder of WeTransfer, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the company’s direction since it was acquired by Bending Spoon last year. In a recent interview with JS, Nalden criticized the updates made to the service post-acquisition, stating that they have been detrimental to the product.

One of the key issues highlighted by Nalden was a controversial move by WeTransfer related to transfer link experiences, as well as a significant reduction in staff following the acquisition. Additionally, the company faced backlash for using users’ content to train AI models, leading to a reversal of changes to its terms.

In response to these developments, Nalden decided to create an alternative file transfer service called Boomerang. The ethos of Boomerang is centered around simplicity and user experience, offering a non-login option for casual users who want to quickly share files without the need for sign-ups or email verification.

Boomerang provides users with 1GB of total space and allows file uploads of up to 1GB in size with a seven-day expiration. For those looking for more features, a free account can be created, offering 3GB of total space and a file upload limit of 3GB per file, along with access to upload history and the ability to customize emojis.

For users who require additional storage and features, Boomerang offers a paid tier priced at €6.99 per month. This tier includes 200GB per space, 500GB total storage, a file upload limit of 5GB per file, custom covers for spaces, password protection for files, extended expiry periods, and the ability to invite unlimited users to access files.

Nalden emphasized that Boomerang aims to provide a straightforward and transparent service without relying on advertising or complex payment structures. The platform’s minimalistic design reflects this approach, focusing on functionality rather than aesthetics to ensure a seamless user experience.

While many tech companies are incorporating AI features into their products, Nalden has chosen to use AI primarily for product development rather than user-facing features. Boomerang is currently available on the web, with plans to release a dedicated Mac app in the near future.

Overall, Nalden’s vision for Boomerang is to offer a tool that prioritizes user needs and simplicity, in contrast to the trend of adding unnecessary complexity to tech products. By staying true to this ethos, Boomerang aims to provide a hassle-free file transfer experience for users seeking a straightforward and efficient solution. The sun was setting over the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow over the landscape. The sky was painted in hues of pink, orange, and purple, creating a breathtaking scene that took my breath away. As I stood there, watching the sun slowly dip below the horizon, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of peace and tranquility wash over me.

The air was cool and crisp, with a gentle breeze rustling through the trees. The sound of birds chirping in the distance added to the serene atmosphere, creating a symphony of nature that was both soothing and invigorating. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh, clean air that surrounded me.

As I opened my eyes, I was greeted with a stunning view of the landscape stretched out before me. The rolling hills were bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun, casting long shadows across the fields. The trees swayed gently in the breeze, their leaves rustling softly in the wind. In the distance, I could see the outline of mountains against the fading light of the sky, creating a picturesque backdrop for the scene before me.

I felt a sense of awe and wonder at the beauty of nature that surrounded me. The simplicity and elegance of the scene before me reminded me of the importance of taking a moment to appreciate the world around us. In our fast-paced, technology-driven world, it’s easy to forget the beauty and tranquility that nature can provide.

As the sun finally disappeared below the horizon, the sky was painted in brilliant shades of pink and purple, creating a stunning display of colors that took my breath away. I stood there, soaking in the beauty of the moment, feeling grateful for the opportunity to witness such a breathtaking scene.

As I turned to leave, I carried with me a renewed sense of peace and tranquility. The beauty of the sunset had reminded me of the importance of slowing down, taking a moment to appreciate the world around us, and finding joy in the simple things in life. And as I walked away, I knew that I would always carry the memory of that beautiful sunset with me, a reminder of the beauty and wonder that nature has to offer.
