The Lakes Area Vineyard Church recently announced that Jackie Shroyer, the wife of US missionary Beau Shroyer who was tragically killed in Africa last October, has been formally charged as a co-author in his murder. Beau Shroyer, a former Detroit Lakes police officer, was found stabbed to death in a vehicle while on a missionary trip to Angola with Jackie and their five children.
The family had moved to Angola in 2021 to work as missionaries for the organization SIM. Unfortunately, Beau’s life was cut short in a violent and criminal attack. Following his death, Jackie was arrested and has now been charged in connection with the murder.
The church informed parishioners that Jackie will remain in custody until her court date, which is expected to take place within the next six months. In the meantime, their five children will be cared for by close family members with support from both SIM and the Lakes Area Vineyard Church.
According to Angolan law enforcement, Jackie was allegedly involved in an affair with Bernardino Isaac Elias, a security guard at their home. It was reported that she did not want to return to the United States when her husband’s mission was ending, leading to suspicions of a romantic relationship between her and Elias.
On the day of the murder, the suspects rented a car and lured Beau to a spot in the woods, where Elias allegedly asked Isalino Musselenga Kayoo to carry out the murder in exchange for $50,000. Kayoo, along with Elias, was arrested and charged with Beau’s murder. Another suspect, Gelson Guerreiro Ramos, is still wanted by authorities in connection with the crime.
The Shroyer family had shared their plans to move to a remote bush village in Angola, where they intended to teach the residents about Christianity and God’s love. This tragic turn of events has undoubtedly shaken their community and the church they were affiliated with.
As the legal proceedings continue, the Lakes Area Vineyard Church is providing support to the Shroyer family and ensuring that their children are cared for during this difficult time. The loss of Beau Shroyer has left a void in their lives, but their faith and the support of their community are helping them navigate this challenging situation.
