The pumpkin poltergeist encounters were truly real.
In a bizarre incident in Ohio, police officers chased after a large inflatable pumpkin that had escaped from a homeowner’s yard under the veil of night, as shown in amusing footage.
Pharma Heights police rushed to track down the runaway decoration in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with bodycam footage shared by the department capturing the comical chase.
âI reached to grab it, and it just took off,â one of the officers who tried to catch the pumpkin remarked to his amused teammate.
âI was really in a chase,â he admitted.
Once they finally secured the Halloween decoration, the officers found themselves struggling to deflate it, ultimately resorting to simply shoving it into the trunk of their police vehicle.
âIâve never seen anything like that before,â one officer exclaimed as they attempted to stow the wayward pumpkin.
According to a lighthearted post on Facebook from the police department, âThe pumpkin was swiftly apprehended and returned to its rightful owner without any issues. Officers can confirm that Cinderellaâs carriage transformed back into a pumpkin just after midnight in Parma Heights.â
In a previous incident last October, an officer in Ohio encountered another runaway inflatable pumpkin, just months after viral footage showed him being chased by a flock of wild turkeys during a traffic stop.
The oversized holiday decoration had also taken off from a residentâs yard, causing disruption as it obstructed two lanes of traffic on a windy day in Bay Village.
