See you later, alligator!
In a stunning display captured by a drone, two Florida deputies were seen skillfully lassoing a rogue alligator in the yard of a local resident and securing it in their police cruiser, showcasing their unique daily challenges.
According to footage released by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office last Saturday, officers were dispatched after a 6-foot alligator was spotted lounging near the front entrance of a home.
The massive creature attempted to evade capture by ducking behind bushes and eventually retreated to the backyard, as seen in the drone video.
Both deputies equipped themselves with improvised ropes; one successfully tossed his lasso around the alligator’s neck as it lay resting in a patch of dry grass. The alligator responded by snapping its jaws at the officer but soon froze, contemplating its next action.
The agitated alligator then thrashed about, executing a dramatic death roll in a bid to intimidate the officers, rolling onto its back in a dusty area just like an annoyed pet, as the footage shows.
The officer who secured the lasso quickly subdued the reptile, holding it down with his weight. As he pinned the alligator, his partner temporarily sealed its jaws with duct tape, as revealed by bodycam footage.
With the alligator secured, the duo effortlessly carried it to their patrol car and placed it in the back seat as if dealing with any other apprehended suspect, exchanging fist bumps with a relieved homeowner afterward.

“According to dispatch, we received a report from a resident regarding an alligator on her front porch. Our deputies promptly responded to safely capture and relocate the uninvited guest. This isn’t our first encounter with such situations… but it truly encapsulates the Florida experience!” stated the sheriff’s office on Facebook.
In Florida, alligators are frequently seen in the state’s more wetland areas.
Earlier in August, a Florida deputy encountered a significantly smaller alligator and took extra precautions by buckling it into the back seat of his cruiser as if it were a rowdy child.
In another jaw-dropping incident, a determined dog owner took action when a 5-foot alligator attempted to snatch her puppy and punched it in the eye to rescue her beloved pet.
