In a startling incident caught on video, a worker at a Texas airport lost control of a refueling hose, resulting in a substantial spill of flammable liquid around a stationary aircraft on the tarmac, as per footage and officials.
This sight unfolded on Saturday at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, specifically while an American Eagle plane was being refueled at a Terminal E gate, as confirmed by American Airlines in a statement to The Post.
A video that was shared on social media showed a ground worker apparently losing control of the refueling hose, leading to jet fuel spraying wildly from the nozzle while it aggressively thrashes underneath the airplane.
The employee seemed to distance themselves from the scene as large patches of the hazardous fuel began to accumulate.
Fortunately, the airport’s spill containment measures managed to capture the fuel, and the area was subsequently cleaned up, according to a spokesperson for Dallas-Fort Worth Airport who spoke to The Post.
It remains unclear how much fuel was spilled during the incident.
âWe are investigating the situation alongside DFW Airport and the fueling contractor, Menzies, and have collaborated on the cleanup as per established protocols,â stated American Airlines.
At the time of publication, Menzies had yet to respond to a comment request.
