A Wisconsin man has been arrested and charged with arson for allegedly setting a local strip club on fire, citing that the establishment went “against his beliefs.” Colton Jansen, 25, was apprehended by police after surveillance footage captured him using a propane torch to ignite a tissue box at Shooter’s Showgirls in the Town of Elk Mound.
Jansen reportedly expressed his disgust towards strip clubs to investigators, stating that he found them “disgusting.” The incident led to a massive response from law enforcement and eleven local fire departments after motorists on Interstate 94 reported seeing the club engulfed in flames.
Although no injuries were reported, Shooter’s Showgirls has been closed since the fire. Security footage from the venue showed Jansen attempting to break into various machines before setting the establishment ablaze. The suspect was identified after police tracked his car to his residence in Comstock using license plate readers.
Initially denying any involvement and claiming his car had been stolen, Jansen later confessed to setting the fire due to his aversion to strip clubs. Authorities found the torch used in the arson and boots matching those worn by the suspect in the security footage in his vehicle.
Jansen faces charges of arson, burglary, and possession of burglarious tools. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 28 for further proceedings. The incident has left the local community shocked and the strip club in ruins, prompting a swift response from law enforcement to bring the perpetrator to justice.
