Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking Acquired by Prime Video for U.K.
Exciting news for Harry Potter fans as “Wizards of Baking” has been acquired by Prime Video for the U.K. The show features pairs of bakers creating magical Potter-inspired creations in a competition format.
The show is set to air in the U.S. on Food Network and Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform Max starting from Nov. 14, with new episodes dropping weekly. In the U.K., it will be available on Prime Video from December, although the exact transmission date has not been revealed yet. Internationally, “Wizards of Baking” will be on Max in territories where the streamer is available.
With Max not currently available in the U.K. due to WBD’s deal with Sky, it was speculated that the show would land on Sky and its streaming platform Now. However, all WBD “Harry Potter” content, including the movies and unscripted series, is currently available on Now.
There have been tensions between Sky and WBD, especially regarding the Potter franchise, with Sky filing a lawsuit alleging breach of content agreements by WBD for refusing to partner on HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” series adaptation.
Hosted by James and Oliver Phelps, who played the Weasley twins in the films, “Wizards of Baking” features judges Carla Hall and Jozef Youssef, with a former “Potter” cast member joining them each week to assist in deciding the fate of the contestants.
Representatives for Sky and Warner Bros. Discovery have not responded to requests for comment at this time.
