It’s only fitting that Angel Reese steps into the role of a Victoria’s Secret angel.
On Wednesday, October 15, in New York City, Reese will make history as the first professional athlete to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway.
The Chicago Sky standout shared this announcement with her followers on Instagram on Thursday, October 9.
“Stepping into a dream: From Angel to a Victoria’s Secret ANGEL,” the 23-year-old Reese captioned a series of behind-the-scenes photos from a recent Victoria’s Secret shoot. “I’m finally getting my wings. I’ll be walking at the Victoria’s Secret 2025 runway show for the first time, and it feels like destiny. Wings on, heels ready… Catch me on the runway.”
Victoria’s Secret also celebrated Reese’s upcoming appearance with a post on their social media, stating, “Angel Reese, welcome to the runway. The first professional athlete angel… major is an understatement.”
The fashion show, which debuted in 1995 and rose to fame in 2001, was held annually until 2019, when it was put on hold following criticism regarding a lack of racial and body inclusivity. It made its return in 2024, and Reese was in attendance for the revamped show, which featured musical performances from icons like Cher, Lisa, and Tyla.
During an interview with People, Reese described the announcement as a “full-circle moment.”
“I couldn’t stop smiling!” she expressed to the publication. “It’s such a surreal and full-circle moment — just last year, I was in the audience manifesting my presence on that runway, completely inspired and admiring the powerful women showcasing their talents, and now I’m returning as an Angel. This night will be unforgettable, and I’ll cherish it forever.”
Through her Instagram Story, Reese further conveyed her excitement about participating in this iconic event: “I’ve truly manifested this. My dreams, work, and ambition are coming to life! See you on October 15th!”
Prior to this, Reese stated her desire to explore modeling alongside her sports career.
Additionally, on Monday, October 6, Reese announced her collaboration with Juicy Couture, a well-known clothing and accessories brand, via Instagram.
The Chicago Sky also congratulated their star with a montage on Instagram showcasing her pregame outfits from the season.
This announcement comes on the heels of Reese missing the Sky’s last three games due to injury, culminating in a half-game suspension at the end of the season due to “statements detrimental to the team.”
In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Reese made strong criticisms of her team, asserting they “must acquire good players” and labeling it a “non-negotiable.” She insisted that the team “can’t settle for what we have this year.”
While she later issued a public apology to her teammates, the team still suspended her. Reese has two years remaining on her rookie contract.
This season, Reese participated in 30 games with the Sky, averaging an impressive double-double with 14.7 points and 12.6 rebounds per game, but she did not play again following her suspension amidst ongoing trade rumors.
