Authorities are conducting an investigation following the tragic discovery of a 36-year-old woman who was found dead in her West Rogers Park apartment on Friday morning. The woman’s supervisor contacted the police after she failed to report to work, prompting a welfare check.

Upon arrival at the apartment in the 6900 block of North Bell Street, an officer encountered the entrance door obstructed from the inside. Upon gaining entry, the officer located the woman’s lifeless body with at least one gunshot wound to the abdomen. She was pronounced deceased at the scene, and a firearm was recovered within the apartment.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday to provide further insight into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s untimely death.
