Police Investigating Two Street Robberies in Chicago Overnight
Two street robberies were reported overnight in Chicago, one in Lakeview and the other in River North, prompting police investigations.
The first incident occurred in the 3200 block of North Racine Avenue around 10 p.m. Saturday. A 26-year-old woman was walking along the sidewalk when two men approached her, leading to a physical altercation. One of the men took the woman’s purse and phone before both offenders fled through a nearby alley. The victim, who was not seriously injured, declined medical attention at the scene.
Authorities are searching for two Black men in connection with the Lakeview mugging. One of the suspects is described as approximately 5’7″ tall and wearing a hoodie with a fur-trimmed hood. Both men were reportedly dressed in dark clothing.
Several hours later, at around 4:00 a.m., a 22-year-old man was robbed at knifepoint in River North. The incident took place in the 100 block of West Hubbard Street, near the site of a recent mass shooting investigation.
According to a CPD spokesperson, five men confronted the victim on the sidewalk, with one brandishing a knife and demanding the man’s belongings. The group made off with the victim’s phone, wallet, and approximately $400 in cash.
The robbers in the River North incident are described as Black men between 20 and 28 years old, all wearing dark clothing. As of now, no arrests have been made in either case, and detectives are actively pursuing leads.
