Woman Faces Attempted Murder Charges After Running Over Ex-Boyfriend Twice

A woman is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly running over her ex-boyfriend — twice — during an argument in Lawndale.

29-year-old Iesha Alexander was arrested at O’Hare International Airport on July 18 after being extradited from Texas by a U.S. Marshals fugitive task force, a Chicago police report said.

The incident took place on May 5, 2024, around 11:30 a.m. Alexander had arranged to meet her ex, a 31-year-old man, at her mother’s home in the 1600 block of South Avers Avenue. Prosecutors stated that after a verbal argument, the man decided to leave and began walking away.

As he walked down the sidewalk, Alexander got into her 2009 Volkswagen Jetta, drove onto the sidewalk, and struck him, prosecutors said. Shockingly, she circled back and hit him again.

A criminal complaint states she “chased him down the alley and intentionally struck him two times with her vehicle,” causing multiple serious injuries, including a fractured shoulder blade, collapsed lung, broken ribs, and a C3–C4 spinal fracture.

According to the CPD report, officers made “multiple” attempts to locate Alexander before discovering that she had fled to Texas. She was apprehended by a U.S. Marshals task force on June 30 in Georgetown, Texas, about 30 miles north of Austin, and was subsequently brought back to Chicago.

Judge Luciano Panici denied prosecutors’ request to detain her. Instead, he ordered Alexander to be placed on electronic monitoring and mandated that she stay away from her ex.
